I am by no means a wine aficionado but I so seem to um, ..drink a lot of it. I am a fan of Pinot Noir. Recently, while browsing in a wine shop, we chose a bottle of Mark West Pinot Noir and I was pleasantly surprised. It was truly smooth and not too full bodied. I should have saved it for a special dinner, but would you believe I had it with pizza? I'm ready to buy another bottle and treat it with more respect.

Ever have a Bellini...peach snaps and Prosecco (Italian Sparkling Wine, like Champagne.) So delcious. You might want to research the exact recipe, though. Very refreshing cocktail.

Recently, I made Sangria for the first time. I used the recipe from Ellie Krieger/Foodnetwork. This turned out to be easy, delicious and festive served in a wine glass. I decorated the rim of the glass with a fresh, whole strawberry and put a red grape and a red raspberry in the bottom of the glass. The Sangria marinated several hours in the refrigerator and then servedd over ice in the wine glass. A little goes a long way with this delicious recipe! Be sure to read the recipe before attempting to make Sangria as there are many ingredients, but well worth it.

A great sparkling wine(s) to enjoy with appetizers is Prosecco (Italian) or Cava (Spanish). Both are reasonably priced and can be enhanced with a bit of floating fruit or berries. Trader Joe's is a good source for these items.

I enjoy both white and red wines, but I have fine-tuned my taste to a Red Cab. Sav. Red wines from Spain are my favorite. Italy being second. Not to leave out California, either. A good Cab. for me is one made from Garnacha Grapes, an older grape, or Tamprenilla Grapes (not sure of spelling at this time, sorry.) For me, these grapes make a full-bodied, smooth-tasting wine. Therefore, I read a wine lable for the country of origin, the fruit content and the year produced. I try to keep the price range between $9-$20 a bottle. Trader Joe's is excellent for quality and price.
